About SAKE OF PEACE

SAKE OF PEACE is a general incorporated association that places Japanese cultural elements at its core — sake, shrines and temples, sumo, anime — collaborating with cultures around the world to host events whose proceeds support the education of the next generation. Rather than financial donations, we offer children knowledge and experience, deepening their self-awareness through cross-cultural exchange. Through international exchange events at embassies in Japan and festivals at shrines, we create opportunities for children to understand and empathize with diversity, helping to build a peaceful global society with culture as the bridge.

Goshikijin Festival

"Goshikijin" — the five-colored people, represented by white, black, red, blue and yellow. In the legends of ancient Japan, the word symbolizes a philosophy of peace: different peoples living together in harmony. Since ancient times, Japan has welcomed diverse cultures and coexisted with a spirit of "wa" (harmony). This festival carries that spirit forward, sending a message to children and to the world: within diversity lies harmony.

IV Jinja Tour  ·  Kids Shrine Tour

The First Step to Knowing Japan

Before learning about the world, we want children to know their own country. We visit Hebikubo Shrine, Yasukuni Shrine and other places the Japanese have cherished over the centuries. A special time guided by Shinto priests — formal worship, sanctuary explanations and garden walks in places normally closed to the public, touching the roots of Japanese culture. That awareness becomes the confidence to stand tall when they meet the world.

Meet the World While Staying in Japan

Even with curiosity for the world, real chances to travel abroad are few. At embassies of many nations, we deliver an overseas experience that needs no passport. Stepping into embassies normally closed to the public, children learn each nation's culture, history and values directly from its people. An embassy is the country itself. A place to meet the world while staying in Japan.
